Kappa Delta Pi chapter established at college for education students

The college’s Teacher Preparation department has established a chapter of Kappa Delta Pi chapter, the international honor society for educators.

Kappa Delta Pi (KDP) was founded in 1911 to foster excellence in education and promote fellowship among those dedicated to teaching.  Students in the college’s Teacher Preparation program who meet the criteria (GPA requirement, volunteerism, nomination or recommendation by a faculty) can obtain membership in the chapter and will have access to scholarships, leadership development, professional development, recognition, discounts on education-related retailers, as well as career planning.  According to Department Chair Toni Howard, the plan is to have our charter installed in the fall with a ceremony and the swearing in of our officers sometime in October/November.

The process of application included the completion of a comprehensive application, solicitation of letters of support, as well as identifying various area of volunteerism initiatives that we would support as part of our chapter responsibilities.
